As all our
client’s know, I have been the office cat here for more than 7 years. I
started life as a black cat; now I have some grey to my coat but I am as
healthy as a kitten. I stay at the office all week and the attorneys
alternate taking me home on weekends.
This summer
my schedule has been disrupted by all of our hurricanes. But I am grateful
that neither the office or the attorneys’ homes sustained any real
damage. I have been one lucky cat; I worry about all the stray cats that
weathered these conditions without shelter. And I know that some very
pampered pets were badly harmed in areas of Florida hard hit by the
storms.
This gives me
a chance to remind you that it is very important to spay and neuter your
animals. Plus please remember that cats are induced ovulators. What that
means is that when girl and boy cats get together at a feeding place, and
if they are not neutered or fixed, they will mate. I know, I was a product
of just such a union. But I was lucky. Most kittens born in the wild die
of disease, starvation or car injury.
There are a
number of organizations which will help you with wild cats, with spaying
and neutering your pets, or cats which you are feeding outside but you do
not claim as your own. Call the West Pasco SPCA, PAWS, SPAY-NEUTER Clinic
for information. Please don’t leave food outside because this encourage
the overpopulation problem. I know its hard to see those hungry faces but
there are other ways to be kind to those animals.
Why just the other day I invited some strays over to
one of the attorney’s house for a visit and a meal while she was out of
the house for a moment. Boy was she surprised!! But charity begins at
home...her home.
Meow, for now,

Hobo
